The Great Coromandel Arts Tour

E-mail Print PDF
Date:

30 April 2010 - 2 May 2010
7 May 2010 - 9 May 2010
14 May 2010 - 16 May 2010

Price:TBA
Location:Coromandel Township
Details:Coromandel Town on the Coromandel Peninsula at first glance seems a quaint but sleepy little town. Tucked away in studios all over town are artists, many who have traveled from other countries to live and work in its stunning scenery and to be part of its creative community. However, they are planning to show themselves for the Great Coromandel Arts Tour, which will run for nine days .

This will be the opportunity for visitors to see artists at work, and purchase artwork direct from a whole range of artists whose studios may not otherwise be open to the public. This will be a well co-ordinated event: new work from established (i.e., Barry Brickell) and emerging artists, guaranteed opening times for the studios, clear signage (in the form of that local icon the mussel buoy) and good directions to the individual studio locations. The art ranges from pottery, sculpture, clothing and accessories, wood carving, doll making, textiles, ironwork, painting, print-making and jewellery.

Connection-Arts and Mentoring

E-mail Print PDF

From 20 March 2010 - 28 March 2010

The goal of Connection is to stimulate and enable young and old (but with a focus on youth) to get in touch with their own creative talents and give them the opportunity to work with these talents within a supportive and inspiring atmosphere. Everyone attending this event will play an active part in co-creating the environment.
You can learn lots of different skills or specialise in one. There are 'stations' that focus on different creative styles, for instance carving in both wood and stone. There will be painting, pottery, metal work, music, dance, theatre, storytelling and mask making. The mostly professional artist staff at the event will be modelling the creative process from conception to finish.

Location: Tui Community, Wainui, Golden Bay, New Zealand
